For those of us who are not as technologically advanced as web developers or software engineers, the workings of a computer alone still baffles us, doesn’t it? Well, complex and enigmatic are the words that come to mind when we talk about technology.

Bearing this in mind, we have shared a few blogs dedicated to computer programming languages to help you understand even just an iota of what tools and programming languages are required to build a functioning computer.

As such, in this blog, let’s get to know JavaScript and its popular frameworks.

What is JavaScript?

According to Wikipedia, JavaScript is “a programming language that conforms to the ECMAScript specification. JavaScript is high-level, often just-in-time compiled, and multi-paradigm. It has curly-bracket syntax, dynamic typing, prototype-based object-orientation, and first-class functions. It is a zero-index programming language.”

Created in 1995 by Brendan Eich, CEO of Brave Software, this advanced programming language is the most popular programming language used by developers and it is the only programming language native to the web browser.

What is JavaScript used for?

Chiefly used for web-based applications and web browsers, JavaScript is also used for:

  1. Adding interactive behavior to web pages.
  2. Developing web and mobile apps.
  3. Creating web servers and developing server applications.
  4. Game development.

There are 8 Popular JavaScript Frameworks:

1. Angular

Angular is among the most efficient, powerful open-source JavaScript frameworks. Operated by Google, it is implemented to be used for developing a Single Page Application (SPA).

2. React

React framework was developed by Facebook and became very popular quite quickly. It is utilized to develop and operate the Dynamic User Interface of high incoming traffic webpages.

3. Vue.js

With various features, this JavaScript framework was launched in 2016. What is amazing about this framework is that its dual integration mode is one of the most attractive features for creating high-end SPA or Single Page Application.

4. Ember.js

Introduced in 2015, Ember.js framework supports two-way data binding. This establishes a reliable platform for handling the complicated User Interfaces. LinkedIn and Netflix, among many others are popular websites that utilize the Ember.JS platform for their websites.

5. Meteor

Meteor covers nearly the important portion of the software development. Back end development, management of the database, business logic, and rendering of the front-end are what this framework is for.

6. Mithril

This framework is used mostly in developing Single Page Applications. It is a client-side JavaScript framework. It is fast, small and provides routing and XHR utilities.

7. Node.js

This server-side JavaScript run-time environment works on cross platforms and is open-source. It has the capability to drive asynchronous I/O with its event-driven architecture. It is a swift, single-threaded model, which does not buffer any data.

8. Polymer

Developed by Google, this open-source JavaScript library creates the elements of the website without going into a complex level. It can be used to create reusable widgets in web documents and applications.

We hope the above mentioned information helps you in understanding about JavaScript and its frameworks.
