Picture this: You get a call to show up for a job interview the next day. You are excited and get a good night’s sleep. You show up the next day and you think you nailed the interview. You go home waiting for them to call you with good news. But, the call never comes and all you get is a rejection email.

Pre-interview Tips

  1. As soon as you get a call for the interview, do a thorough research of the company. Go through their website, check out their social media platforms. More informed you are about the organization, the more clear you will be about their expectations from the job role. This will help you in framing the convincing responses to the interview questions. Simultaneously, you will be able to ask relevant questions impacting your growth prospects with them.
  2. If you know the names of the panel members who will be interviewing you, try to gather some information about them. This will help in making the interview session more interactive, creating a positive impact.
  3. Make the task of the interviewer to check your suitability for the job post simple by making sure that your cover letter is up to date and that the skills needed for the position you are interviewing for are highlighted in your resume. Bring two or three hard copies of the resume and a pen.
  4. Punctuality is an important trait, any organization would expect to have in its employees. Show this quality of yours, by reaching the interview venue on time. Arrive at least 15 minutes early to calm your nerves, relax & give yourself more time for preparation.
  5. First impression is the last impression, so dress your formally best to create the positive impact on the interview panel.
  6. No one wants to be disturbed during an important discussion, so make sure that your phone is switched off or in silent mode during the interview.
  7. Never go for an interview with an empty stomach. Eat a healthy breakfast to make yourself feel energetic and confident during the interview process.
  8. Carry a handkerchief or tissue with you.
