For a team to work efficiently, team building exercises are a must. Some companies have their own trainers while some invite outside trainers to conduct the team building exercises. Be it 7 or 40 trainees, getting the team excited for the team building exercises can go a long way in making the meeting successful. Enter icebreakers.

The right icebreaker will set things in motion and make the meeting fun and successful.

A good team should function well like a well-oiled machine. In order to have a successful team, managers must be motivational and inspirational. However, sometimes, more has to be done for the team to collaborate well and for that, team building activities are initiated, where team oriented activities are conducted by the manager, HR manager or a trainer.

Here are some of the best and simplest Icebreakers to initiate a team building exercise:

Two Truth and One Lie:

This is a game that can be played anywhere by everyone. Here, all employees will state 3 statements about themselves. Two of these statements are true and one is wrong. It is upto the other employees who must guess which one is the lie by asking the person different questions.

This game is a good way to see how well the team knows about each other. It will also help them in knowing more about each other. Plus, it is a good way for introverts to come out of their shells.

Jenga Questions:

The game of Jenga is for all ages and it sure is an exciting game. As a team building icebreaker, write a question on each block. Let everyone participate and whichever block they take out, they must read out the questions and answer accordingly. This is another fun way to know about each other.

Have you Ever?

In this game, compile a list of questions that can be answered with a simple Yes or No. You could also change it to “stand up if you” rather than “have you ever”. Ensure that the questions are not sensitive and discriminatory such as religions or genders. Appropriate questions could be regarding countries visited or bunking classes. Once the trainer reads out the questions, participants who stand up will have a common ground for future conversations.

Whose story is it?

This is a particularly fun and exciting one especially if the team members know more about each other. Give a piece of paper of the same size and ask the participants to write their funniest or weirdest moments which has to be a true experience. Then, tell them to fold the paper in a particular way and to drop them in a ball. After shaking the ball, the trainer will pick a paper from the ball. He will read whatever is written on the paper and the participants have to guess who has written it. This is yet another way to know more about each other.

Speed Meeting Icebreaker

This is the ideal way to know more about each other and possibly find your soulmate. Divide the team into 2 groups – group A and group B. They must stand or sit opposite each other. Each participant has only two minutes to converse with the other person in the other group. After every 2 minutes they should move onto the next person. Some may find their common interests, while some may even exchange their contact information. This is a good way to let the team members be closer, especially those who have never spoken to each other before.

We hope these simple team building icebreakers help make your meetings successful and fun.

We will leave you here with our best wishes.

Good luck!
