I wrote his story and asked the magazine editor to publish it, omitting mine and the person’s name. Within a week, many students and even professors sent donations to the editor. He then handed them to the person who is now a graduate like me.

The department magazine now has a page for students in need. 

 It was a rewarding and wonderful experience and achievement. 

9. Can you handle working under pressure?

This is a common hr interview questions for freshers. A crisis may occur every once in a while, and there are times when you will have to work under pressure. Interviewers ask this question because they want to know if you will crack or be stable while working under pressure.

The most challenging decision I’ve ever had to make was changing my major in the first year of college. I started my first year by taking English as my major because I love to read and write. I have always known that I wanted to become a writer since middle school. 

The second semester came, and I knew I needed to explore my options while still focusing on writing, and Journalism was the ideal course for me as I also have an interest in photography and graphic PR. 

I contemplated losing an entire year for weeks and made a list of pros and cons. In the end, the pros won, and I was happy with it. With my parents’ blessings, I finally changed my major, and although I may have lost a year, it was a decision that I regret making.  

11. What kind of working environment do you work best in?

Here, the interviewer wants to know if you would fit in nicely with the company culture. As you probably don’t know about the work environment there yet, it’s best to provide an answer that the interviewer will appreciate.

Tips:

  • It’s best to let them know that you are flexible and can adapt easily to any environment.
  • Do not use words like “cool or low stress or relaxed work environment.

I also prefer an adaptive and energetic work environment. But most of all, I believe that one works best under a good leader. So, when it comes to the working environment, I prefer to work under someone who motivates and has faith in his team members and encourages teamwork. 

12. What inspires/motivates you to come in for work every day and do your job well?

When interviewers ask questions such as “What inspires you to come in for work every day?” or “What motivated you to do your job well?” they want to see stability and if you will be happy taking on the role offered by them. This is a commonly-asked question in the HR interview for freshers.

Tips:

  • Let the interviewer know that you are a success-driven person.
  • You can talk about your passion and goals.

My hard work and determination come from the need to be a successful person who will provide food for his family, someone they can depend on. 13. Have you ever thought of starting your own business?

Here, the interviewer wants to know if you are a team player who will work in a company for a long time as an employee.

14. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Employers want to hire candidates who will be able to stick around for a long time. So, when this question is asked, the interviewer wants to know if you are looking for a short-term job or seeking long-term employment.

  • The best answer is to tell them you are in it for the long run.
  • It is also fine to say to them you are not yet sure what the future holds for you.

Ten years from now, I see myself holding a managerial position in this company. After doing my homework, I know that this company is kind to its employees by providing them with a safe working environment and helping them develop their skill sets. By then, I see myself mastering my skills, which I would teach to my juniors.

15. Would you be willing to work overtime during nights and sometimes on weekends?

When interviewers ask this question, they want to know if they can count on you in case of a crisis. They want to test your sense of ownership and responsibility should you be an employee of the company.

Tips:

  • Answer honestly if you are not willing to work overtime but state your reasons. For instance, it could be because you want to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
  • But if you are desperate for the job, take a look at the example below.

Should the need arise? If I am part of the company, it will be my responsibility to see its success, and when a situation calls for “all hands on deck,” I will be there.

16. What are your salary expectations?

This is another one of the HR interview questions for freshers that many people will fumble while giving. As a fresher, expect to get entry-level pay. However, do not give the interviewer a number before researching the salary range in the market for the position you are applying for.

  • Rather than give them the amount you are expecting, ask them for the range they are offering for the position offered.

17. What Can You Bring to the Company?

This is one of those HR interview questions for freshers that you will have to face in every interview. Here, the interviewer wants to see what unique or original skills you will bring to the table and if they would fit the position and the company. Most new joiners often bring fresh perspectives, and the interviewer wants to know if you could be one of them.

Tips: 

  • Go through the job description thoroughly beforehand and try to connect your skills with what the company needs.

Here, the interviewer wants to see whether you are a success-driven person who will be able to be a part of the company for a long time or not and gauge your organisational and time management skills.

  • Ensure that your career goals are aligned with the position you are applying for and the company.
  • Focus on one or two goals and mention the reasons.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been passionate about writing and reading. I’ve always known that I wanted to be a writer. 

While my short term goal is to become a content writer while pursuing my certification in an online digital marketing course, the ultimate goal is to climb the ladder of success and become an editor-in-chief someday. 

19. Are You Willing to Relocate?

Most of the time, this is when the interview goes south for both the interviewer and the candidate if they cannot relocate. Then again, it can also go another way, and it would be a win-win situation for both.

Tips:

  • Be honest.
  • If yes, show your enthusiasm and appreciation.
  • If no, state your reason.

Example:

  • As this is my dream job and I would work with one of the best content marketing companies, it would be an honour to work for you. So, I would be open to relocation. 
  • A year ago, I would have happily jumped on the opportunity to relocate for a position such as this. But, as I have recently purchased a flat and my kids have started their schools, relocation is not an option for me at the moment. However, I’d be more than willing to make it work remotely if it’s an option. 

20. Do you have any questions for me?

This is a commonly-asked question and usually comes at the end of the interview. Whenever you are asked this question, be prepared to ask your question(s) as it will show your interest in the position and company and your confidence and professionalism.

Tips:

  • If you do not have any questions, the least you could ask is, “When can I expect to hear back from you?” or “What are the next steps in the interview process?”
  • Prepare a list of questions beforehand.
