For those of you who follow our blogs, you know that in our previous blog we talked about ‘How to be efficient at work’.

Well, here we are going to talk about creativity at work and how to utilize it.

In the past, technical skills alone were good enough to get Jobs in India but now, creativity is something that is in high demand to be more innovative at work.

To be creative, one needs to be able to see beyond the horizon and be imaginative. To be perfectly candid, creativity and innovation are some things that you are born with. But who’s to say that practice doesn’t have anything to do with it?

Innovation in the Workplace

1. Create a brainstorming wall

The first and foremost thing that you have to do is pin a whiteboard on one of your walls where you along with your colleagues could brainstorm new ideas and suggestions that could potentially benefit the business. You need to accept that innovation can’t come for you alone and that sometimes you have to go with what others in your team have. Allow them to chalk down their ideation and actions.

2. Put suggestions into action

Do not be that person who only takes on projects that he/she deems fit. Rather than that take the suggestions of others into account before you dismiss them. Who knows? The best next project could come from one of your colleagues and it just might do wonders for your business. Always remember that you are not alone for the better of the company.

3. Think outside the box

You know how people always tell you to think outside of the box, well it means that you have to go beyond your comfort zone. Beyond your daily roles and responsibilities, what other measures can you take to achieve more brand recognition? What other sources are there to advertise your brand? Well, that’s all up to you to decide how far you are willing to go.

4. Talk to your boss

Your boss might have a strategy in place but what if you could offer a better solution? This is why it is imperative that you discuss issues and ideas with your boss. Do thorough research and come up with a practical solution that would benefit both parties. Creativity comes in all forms. All you need to do is assess, analyze, and provide solutions.

5. Engage in Physical Activities

Did you know that moderate physical exercise results in a significant increase in cognitive creativity? Well, exercise is the best way to enhance your physical and mental well-being. The solutions to problems, divergent thinking, with open-ended, original ideas come through physical exercise.

6. Reward creativity with appreciation

Let’s be honest, we all want a little recognition for our innovation and creativity, don’t we? It doesn’t mean that we expect big rewards. No! A little recognition will boost our confidence and give us a sense of doing the right thing. This in turn gives us hope and thus enhances our confidence and productivity.

7. Embrace the buddy system

Do you know how they say that two is better than one? Well, it’s true. Some offices have buddy systems. Be a buddy with someone who is trustworthy and innovative. Imagine how much work two creative minds would accomplish.

We hope the above-mentioned information helps you to provide innovation in the workplace.
